Mr. Powell made his first conservatory flute in 1928, called the Commercial model. Today’s Conservatory models combine the aesthetics of the traditional Handmade Custom model with Powell’s Posi-Stop™ tail design, and are offered with a hand cut Custom Powell headjoint.
Materials: Conservatory flutes are offered in sterling silver or Aurumite 9k gold with sterling silver keys and come standard with leather cases and case covers.
- Each sterling silver Conservatory flute possesses the special sonority, scale, and color for which Powell instruments are known.
- Powell’s patented Aurumite® Conservatory model combines 9k rose gold and sterling silver which produce a warm, dark quality, while retaining the resonance and projection of silver.
Mechanical Options: All Conservatory flutes have extruded tone holes. The most popular options are available with Conservatory flutes.
- Extruded tone holes (soldered tone holes not available)
- A-442 or A-444 pitch
- C or B foot joint
- French (open) cups, or Plug-O’s® to convert French to American
