Ildiko Juhasz

Principal Flute of the Sudecka Philharmonic Orchestra Poland, International Flute and Piccolo Soloist

Polish- Hungarian flutist and piccoloist, Ildiko Juhasz MA was born in Budapest. Finished her studies with honour at University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Graz, Austria with Herbert Weissberg, Erwin Klambauer (flute) and Raphael Leone (piccolo). She is currently the section principal flute of the Sudecka Philharmonic Orchestra (Filharmonia Sudecka) in Walbrzych, Poland.
She has been invited as a guest principal flutist to several renowned orchestras such as Sinfonietta Cracovia, Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra, Bavarian Philharmonie eV. Munich, Beethoven Academy Orchestra, Poznan Philharmonic Orchestra, Poznan Opera House, National Polish Wind Orchestra. Guest piccolo appearance at Munich Symphony and Macao Orchestra. She is the soloist of well-known former TV moderator Enrico de Paruta’s venue in Munich, with nearly 22 concerts yearly.

Apart from orchestra playing, as an experienced soloist- known for her virtuosity, performed the Polish premiere of the outstanding Piccolo Concerto of Levente Gyöngyösi, live broadcasted by the Polish National Radio among with one of Poland’s leading chamber orchestra Sinfonietta Cracovia, and played the Polish premiere of the Flute Concerto of Emil Petrovics with Filharmonia Sudecka. She performed Vivaldi’s Piccolo Concerto with the Bavarian Chamber Orchestra, live broadcasted by the German SWR. As a soloist, she cooperated with orchestras across Europe and Asia, such like Bavarian Chamber Orchestra eV., Sinfonietta Cracovia, Filharmonia Sudecka, Silesian Chamber Orchestra Katowice, Zabrze Philharmonic Orchestra, Busan Philharmonic Orchestra, South Korea, Nis Symphony Orchestra, Serbia, Khmelnytskyi Philharmonic Orchestra, Ukraine.

She won several international competitions like Cap Ferret France, Trebinje Classic in BiH, Danubia Talents Hungary, won the 3rd price at the Busan Maru Competition in South Korea for performing Liebermann’s Piccolo Concerto, and was awarded with the grand prize as a soloist at the Muzyczne Orly in Lodz, Poland for performing Ibert’s Flute Concerto. Received the Honorary Medal for Merit to Polish Culture.

Ildiko Juhasz has been awarded with the Walbrzych City Council Prize and was sponsored by Orpheus Classical CD Label to release her first solo album.

Her playing has inspired Polish, Hungarian and Hawaiian Composers to write new pieces for Flute, Piccolo and Alto Flute. Ildiko conducted masterclasses and workshops combined with recitals at Polish Flute Meeting, Katowice, Szczecin University, Nis University, International Music Festival in Cancun, Mexico. Her goal is to motivate flutists playing the piccolo and the importance of knowing orchestra repertoire. Coaching flutists to manage stage fever and stress.

Ildiko Juhasz’s répertoire includes amongst all Mozart, Bach, CPE Bach Flute Concertos and all Vivaldi Piccolo Concertos, Flute Concertos of Khachaturian, Weinberg, Ibert, Nielsen, Reinecke, Petrovics and Piccolo Concertos of Liebermann and Gyöngyösi.

Beyond music her passion is flying, travelling and learning languages, fluent in English, German, Polish and Hungarian.

In 2020, when the whole world was in lockdown, I really missed live concerts, so I made this recording at home to keep myself busy. I also transcribed the pieces mostly myself, and luckily, Orpheus Classical label showed interest to release it
