Soloist, chamber musician, and clinician at Mason Gross Extension Division at Rutgers University of New Jersey, USA

Amy I-Yun Tu is a Taiwanese flutist celebrated for her artistry as a soloist, chamber musician, and dedicated community advocate. A graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy, she earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, studying with Bradley Garner. She later pursued doctoral coursework at Rutgers University under the mentorship of Bart Feller, Principal Flute of the New York City Ballet and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra.

Ms. Tu’s vibrant performance career has taken her to renowned venues and festivals across the United States and abroad. She has been featured at prestigious events such as the Midwest Clinic (2015), the International Trumpet Guild Conference (2017), and several National Flute Association Conventions, including Orlando (2018), Salt Lake City (2019), and San Antonio (2024).

A passionate educator, Ms. Tu maintains a thriving private studio. She currently serves as the adjunct flute professor at Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ, and teaches at the Princeton Day School in Princeton, NJ. Her previous faculty appointments include the Mason Gross Extension Division and Rutgers University-Community Arts, as well as assistant flute instructor at the Juilliard Pre-College. Her students have performed as concerto soloists with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, Manhattan School of Music Pre-College Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonietta Nova, and Monmouth Symphony Orchestra.

She is the 2024 recipient of the New Jersey Music Teachers Association Teacher of the Year Award, becoming the first woodwind teacher to receive this prestigious honor. Ms. Tu currently serves as the New Jersey MTNA Competitions Chair and Secretary/Assistant Secretary of the National Flute Association (2024-2026).
