Shin-Jung Oh

Professor of INJE Univ & International soloist

Renowned as one of South Korea’s preeminent flutists, Shinjung Oh has cultivated a singular artistic voice distinguished by her radiant tone, vivid colors, and refined musicality. With a career spanning acclaimed solo, orchestral, and chamber performances, she continues to enchant audiences across continents.

Her prodigious talent was evident from an early age, garnering the Grand Prix at prestigious competitions including the Yuk-Young Music Concours, the Korean Music Association Concours, and Music Monthly Concours. Further accolades followed at the Dong-A Music Competition, Pusan Music Concours, and the Manhattan School of Music Concert Competition, cementing her reputation as a rising virtuoso.

As a soloist, Shinjung has graced an array of esteemed stages, including performances with the KBS Symphony Orchestra, Korean Symphony Orchestra, Daejeon Municipal Orchestra, Daegu Municipal Orchestra, New Seoul Philharmonic, Academy Orchestra, SNU Orchestra, and international ensembles such as the MSM Symphony Orchestra. Particularly lauded were her collaborations with the KBS Orchestra and the KBS Traditional Music Orchestra, where critics praised her refined stage presence and idiosyncratic musical interpretations.

Her artistry has also resonated abroad, with appearances at iconic venues such as Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall and Merkin Hall in New York, as well as engagements throughout the United States and Europe. Her performances are celebrated for their poetic expressiveness and masterful balance between brilliance and subtlety. Recently, she expanded her stage to Japan, invited by Dolce instrument, to have multiple concerts.

A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, Yewon School, Seoul Arts High School, and Seoul National University, Shinjung served as co-principal flutist of the KBS Symphony Orchestra. She is also the artistic director of several prominent ensembles, including the Seoul Flute Ensemble, Korean Flutists, and Ensemble Prisma.

In addition to her performance career, she is a dedicated educator, holding faculty positions at Yonsei University, Korea National University of Arts, Yewon School, Seoul Arts High School, and Sunhwa Arts School, where she nurtures the next generation of flutists with the same passion and precision that define her performances. She is currently a professor at INJE University, South Korea. Also, she has been invited as a jury for worldwide flute competitions such as Biwako International (Japan), Camerata Artists International (US) and AFF (China).

She is recording a new album in collaboration with the internationally celebrated flutist and conductor Ransom Wilson. She has also been honored with the designation of Powell Artist by the esteemed Powell Flutes, in recognition of her exceptional artistry.
